PORTLAND HIGH SCHOOL Scholarship FUND

Devon Allen Merritt was born on November 8, 1989. He passed away on March 29, 2013 after suffering with Pulmonary Fibrosis for several years. This website and all our fund raising efforts are dedicated to him, and our loving memories.
Devon played soccer from a very young age and was the keeper on every team he played for. He was the starting goal keeper on the varsity team for all 4 years while attending Portland High School in Portland, Maine, USA.
He also played long stick defense on the varsity lacrosse team at Portland High. He played baseball, golf, he skied, long-boarded, and was a very talented athlete in just about everything he tried.
Each year, to honor our unending love for Devon, we gather our hearts, spirit s, and signature pink tees together and play golf, one of Devon’s favorite pastimes.
Money raised from the DAM Golf Tourney funds scholarships for two Portland High School graduates – one soccer player and one lacrosse player. As a Portland High School student, Devon was a standout player on the lacrosse and soccer teams. Recipients of the scholarship are selected based on the same qualities that made Devon a strong player and an outstanding teammate.
Additional funds will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Pulmonary Fibrosis Research Fund which funds research for better treatment and potential cure for the disease that took Devon from us.
